WE SHALL NEVER FORGET...
The following is a poem written by Vice President Bob Landau's son, Robert K,

"TWO STEEL BEAMS"

Two Steel Beams
Formed into a Cross
A symbol of our Faith, our Strength,
To ones we lost.

Remember our Brothers, our Mothers,
Our Husbands and Wives,
Remember not their passing
But the living of their lives.

Love can never be destroyed, or ruined
By the Devil's hand,
For Love is undying, immortal
And part of God's plan.

Our Finest and Bravest
Gave their own lives
To make sure the future was seen
Through their children's eyes.

To everyone who suffered a loss
On that fateful September day,
This is dedicated to them
Although words are hard to say.

We mourn them, we honor them,
And will always miss being apart
But nothing can ever take the love
We will always feel for them, and remain inside our hearts.

AN INSPIRING THANK YOU FROM THE TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN

THIS FLAG HAS FLOWN IN AFGHANISTAN,
TO SEE IT UP CLOSE, JUST COME TO OUR NEXT MEETING. MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED WHETHER WITH SUPPLIES OR CASH DONATIONS. KEEP IT COMING TILL OUR BOYS COME HOME FOR GOOD!
~~~
We received a letter of Thanks from Capt. Matt Coyne of the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan, thanking us for recent supplies we sent to him.
He writes:
"I received the boxes you sent a few days ago. As always, thank you very much, and please thank all the members of the FDNY RMA. They were greatly appreciated by all and everything
was put to good use!"
Recently Matt sent to us a Flag of the
10th Mountain Division
see below:
\/
 Instead of you bringing in supplies to the meeting,
we request that you make a donation and we will use that money to purchase supplies.
 It is much easier to do it that way.
Please do not send donations thru the US Mail, just make a monetary donation when you come to the meeting,
Thank You!
The supplies go into special shipping boxes provided by the
US Post Office and when packed look something like this:
2011 UPDATE
Kudos to Jimmy Hayhurst and his wife Linda for
all the shipping of goodies to Afghanistan.
The new procedure of cash donations is working out well.
At our November 22nd Meeting, over $400.00 was collected.
As a result, Jimmy and wife Linda sent out close to 30 boxes
in time for the Holidays.
Linda puts a lot of love in each box.
Her passion for the troops shows in each shipment.
Included in this last shipment were items
for our female soldiers. We Thank all for contributing.
Here is a Thank You letter from
SPC Justine Shahan (Base Operations-TM Jayhawk):
"Thank you so very much for the care packages. Mail here is like Christmas Day and today was a lovely surprise.
I am MWR NCOIC for Base Operations at Bagram and for all of our units in RC-EAST and I can assure you that everything you sent me will be shared with other soldiers around our area.
It's because people like you that we can continue to do our job and return home safely.
Thank You very much for thinking of all of us.
It means so very much!"
^^^
Here are two letters thanking us for items we shipped last year:
Members of the FDNYRMA,
I would like to personally thank you on behalf of the 240th Forward Surgical Team Airborne for the care packages you have sent us.
The support that Americans like you give us is very much appreciated and is what also keeps our Troops as strong as we are. The packages you sent us were sent out to our unit representative who ensures everybody in our team gets what they need and she normally sends Thanks to anyone that has sent our team a package. However I felt the obligation to respond to your organization personally on mine and my Units' behalf.
Let me tell you about our Unit:
We are a 20 soldier team that provides immediate surgical intervention to any of our fine Americans hurt on the battlefield.
We are staffed with Medics, Nurses, Surgeons, Anesthesia and Surgical Technicians. The 240th is out of Ft. Bragg, NC,
"Home Of The Airborne",
and our soldiers are well trained paratroopers as well as very skilled in their individual professions. Unlike the conventional Combat Support Hospitals our unit moves up as close to our combat arms units, to be able to provide care within the first "Golden Hour". Well enough about us. I would finally like to thank all of you that have served in the Fire Department and have many times put yourself in harms way in support of the daily mission
 in the Home Front.
Myself and the rest of the 240th FST say "AIRBORNE"
and "THANK YOU" with all of our hearts for all the support
and everything you are also doing for our Country.
                                                                                         Sincerely,
                                                                                   V/R
                                                                                         SSG Pagan
We also received a Thank You Letter from
Corporal Waldon, Lima Co.,  3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, he writes:
"I would like to take time to Thank You for your care packages that you sent to me during my time in Afghanistan. (he has since returned) I kept the FDNY Patch and I am going to have it sewn on my pack that I carried around Afghanistan. Everything that was sent was spread loaded to my squad. We were all very grateful for the money, effort and time that were put into it. All packages are moral boosters to the Marines. When I seen that it was from the FDNY, it was much better. To us that lets us know that even though the war on terror has been going on for 9 years, we are still getting the support of the folks back home, and that means alot. Your packages were instrumental to our morale and gave us the motivation to carry out and accomplish our mission in clearing and securing the once desolate Nowzad Valley and giving it back to the civilians that are trying to make a life for themselves. Once again, Thank You for everything you have done.
"Semper Fidelis"
Respectfully,
Brandon Waldon
-USMC
We are grateful to Brandon for his letter and even more grateful to Brandon and his unit for their success in Afghanistan...
